The McMichael Canadian Art Collection ranks among Canada’s top public galleries in size and significance. The McMichael Canadian Art Collection is recruiting for the full-time Custodial and Facilities Maintenance staff on a one-year contract, from May 12, 2025 – May 1, 2026, with possibility for renewal.
Working with members of the Operations team, this position will support all gallery operations tasks, including Custodial Services within all gallery buildings, and grounds maintenance activities, in accordance with pre-established design, aesthetics and environmental standards.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Facilities & Operations, and working with other Facilities staff, tasks include cleaning of gallery facilities, responding to work orders and performing required work for special events and functions, grounds maintenance, and movement of materials. Snow removal is also required. The position will assist with renovations and facilities-related tasks as assigned or as scheduled.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have 3 years of Custodial and/or Facilities experience and be able to lift and push +25lb. A good knowledge in the use and safe operation of building and grounds maintenance equipment, including small tools and snow removal equipment for which a driver’s licence is required. A post-secondary diploma with certification in a trade is an asset. Training and certification in First Aid, CPR & AED, Health & Safety and WHMIS (2015)
The position will require occasional work on weekends and evenings, and function support.
Salary: $40-$45,000 per annum plus Health & Dental benefits and OMERS pension. Hours of work will be Monday-Friday, rotating shifts of 6:00am-2:00pm or 9:00am-5:00pm, with occasional work on weekends or evenings as requested.
